Idiot Legal Arguments [Updated 22/1/2016]

http://archive.adl.org/mwd/suss1.html

Foreword (by Mark Pitcavage)

What follows this introduction is a truly extraordinary collection of cases and decisions dealing with the “paper terrorism” tactics of the so-called “patriot” movement. While some members of this movement prefer the use of guns or bombs, the weapons of choice for many others are harassing lawsuits, harassing filings, bogus documents ranging from counterfeit money to counterfeit identification cards, tax protest arguments, and many related activities. Often these tactics are accompanied by bizarre legal or, more accurately, pseudolegal language. Many people who encounter such tactics for the first time are surprised and sometimes confused by the strange and unexpected arguments that show up in the courtroom.

What’s the scoop on Edgar Cayce, the “Sleeping Prophet”?

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1874/whats-the-scoop-on-edgar-cayce-the-sleeping-prophet

“January 16, 2001
Dear Straight Dope:

I would appreciate some insight into the case of Edgar Casey, the “Sleeping Prophet.” Although Edgar did turn his trance sessions into a money-making venture, what I’ve read has many elements of a solid story, especially the presence of a disconnected stenographer, and several verifiable accounts of medical treatments. Does the story of Edgar Casey meet with your skeptical approval? —

— Thomas Walsh, Chicago”

OK, first things first. Although his name was indeed pronounced “Casey,” it’s spelled “Cayce.” For those who aren’t familiar with him, here’s some background:

Kundalini and Hell Fire – Any Correlation? ~ “Splinter in the Mind”

“Kundalini and Hell Fire – Any Correlation?
(August 29, 2010 at 12:39 pm)
Are kundalini and hell fire the same thing? Think about it a minute. Kundalini: the intense fire in the body that’s felt by people practicing advanced stages of yoga meditation. It’s explained by the gurus as an opening of the seven energy centers that are situated along the spine. The opening of each one supposedly correlates with greater spiritual power.

But what is the experience of people who actually have kundalini? Do they describe it as an opening to greater power? No, they typically describe it as “a feeling of being incinerated” or “eaten alive” or “I feel I’m being torn apart and there will be nothing left of me.” One person told me, “It feels like my ego is being completely destroyed, like God is murdering me.” These are not the descriptions of people opening to greater spiritual power – at least not power that is theirs to own or control.

Rather it seems that kundalini, as it is commonly experienced in its intense phases, is a kind of devouring. Who is doing the devouring? The gurus tell us kundalini is the life force, coiled like a snake at the bottom of the spine. They tell us to imagine the snake uncoiling and rising in our spine, and that this will trigger kundalini and resulting spiritual enlightenment.

Yet we know the snake is a symbol of the so-called gods who historically have sought to control the human race. We find it as a sacred symbol in the ancient Egyptian mysteries, in Hindu Shiva and Kali worship, and in other religious traditions. The gods and the snake have long been intertwined.

Is it possible that when a person imagines a snake uncoiling from the base of their spine, rising and undulating up their back, that they are actually inviting in another entity to possess them? Does “the snake” rise along their chakras (the spinal spiritual energy centers), devouring them and/or transforming them into the snake’s own energy system?

People experiencing intense kundalini describe it as fiercely painful, and they typically feel powerless to turn the fire off. The so-called Indian saint Amma (Ammachi), better known as “the hugging saint,” claims that her “enlightenment” was ushered in through kundalini so intense she had to submerse herself for hours in water for days at a time. When the transformation is complete, the seeker is said to have become a pure vessel of God, through whom the Infinite speaks and moves in the world. I propose that, in fact, the person is a vessel of something else – the snake-god they allowed to take them over.

My distrust of kundalini as something good is related to another thought that dawned on me recently: is the hell that supposedly exists for some people after death actually a seemingly perpetual experience of intense kundalini? Hell is said to be eternal fire, but how can a spirit burn in fire, when fire is physical and a spirit has no physical body? Surely the fire being spoken of is spiritual in nature, and what is kundalini except spiritual fire? It has its physical element, but is a physical body necessary for kundalini to burn? Surely it could burn an astral body (spirit) as easily as a physical one, under the right conditions.

Those conditions exist in the case of a person who dies and considers himself unworthy of salvation, a person so riddled with self-doubt and guilt that he never makes it to the heavenly worlds. Instead, he succumbs to the messages of dark spirits who visit him, feeding on his self-doubt and fear. They tell him he is damned, confirming his worst suspicions. They stage a “judgment day,” officially condemning the soul to the fires of hell. The soul accepts the scenario as truth, as the decision of God, totally believing he deserves to suffer for his sins.

And then the fire begins. The dark spirits start to feed on him. His chakras burn to the point where he desires oblivion, but there’s nothing he thinks he can do. He is getting what he deserves, he thinks, and is helpless to be saved. So he suffers, much like Prometheus in the Greek myth whose liver was devoured by an eagle each day, growing back at night, only to be devoured again the next day by the same eagle, on and on through eternity.

The scenario can be changed if the soul comes to realize that he himself is allowing the devouring to occur and that therefore he himself can stop it. No one can feed on him without his permission, a permission he granted when he judged himself unworthy of God and of happiness. If he changes his self-judgment, his fate will change as well. God’s love can only reach him when he opens the door.

If you have a loved a one who left this life afflicted with self-doubt and feelings of guilt, someone you’ve had dreams about being in a bad place on the other side, that person is very possibly in a very dark place right now and needs your help. Through the bond of love, your thoughts can reach this person wherever he is and talk to him. You need to reason with him about his self-judgment.

Ask if his belief that God has ordained his intense suffering makes sense. Ask him what he ever did that was bad enough to deserve eternal fire. Give him examples of other people who’ve done far worse things, and ask if he thinks a good and loving God would consign such a person to hell or if God would understand that person’s actions came from intense pain, and love and forgive him. Get the person to see that if he himself can feel compassion and understanding for such an individual, and would never consign such a one to hell, that surely God, whose love and understanding are greater than ours, would never damn such a person. And if God would not damn that hypothetical worse person, how could God damn your loved one, whose guilt is less?

Talk to your loved one as if he is there in the room with you, and reason with him until he can see this. Shout at him if you need to and tell him you will not allow him to sit here and rot like this. Tell him you are bonded forever, and that you need his help, from the other side, his influence in your life. Tell him the other people on earth whom you both love need him. Get mad at him, but get his attention. Tell him you aren’t going to stop coming around and bugging him until he gets good and fed up with his condition and decides to get over it.

Explain that if it clearly wasn’t God who put him here, then someone else clearly did. He has been had, deceived. Dark spirits who like to feed on self-doubting people took advantage of his doubt and convinced him he deserved to burn and suffer. Explain that once he grasps that, and realizes God doesn’t want him here, that he can walk away from the current arrangement. His mind is his prison, and the key is his own understanding. Like Alice in Wonderland, pursued by the Red Queen’s army, who sees the soldiers turn into playing cards and fall lifeless to the floor, so will your loved one find his nightmare dissolve when he discovers it all is caused by his own belief system. Help him see the illogic of what he believes about what he deserves, and he will become free. Even if he did some very bad things, explain that he has suffered enough now, that everything is forgivable when we are truly sorry. Explain that restitution for wrong-doing is not made by suffering but by returning to do good toward the people we have wronged.

When the one you love sees this, the chains will fall from his mind, and he will easily step out of the fires of hell or purgatory. I share this because of an experience I had with a loved one of my own. Reasoning out the truth of the human situation, and loving one another through the perils we find ourselves in, is the path to human freedom, whichever side of the veil we are on. No gods or channeled beings or gurus or saints are going to save us. All those entities have agendas of control and only pretend to be friends of humanity.

It’s up to us to stop looking to other-worldly beings for our answers, to assess our condition for ourselves, and to do something about it. When we stop allowing “spiritual entities” to determine the direction of our lives, we become spiritually mature – driving the vehicle of our own life, our own destiny. Then we can boldly say, with the poet William Henley, “I am master of my fate, and I am captain of my soul.””

Channeled Messages: Who’s Really Talking? From “Splinter in The Mind”

This applies equally well to other channellers currently promoting themselves or being promoted by others in the alternative media and Bronte Baxter’s points are well made in our opinion.

“I haven’t yet found one source of “channeled truth” that doesn’t deny subtly what I know of the world. Take Caroline Cory, for instance, the author of a book called “The Divine Plan: Beyond 2012.” Caroline Cory ‘s website contains a page called “Universal Messages,” channeled guidance she apparently received for the rest of us from unseen entities she trusts as wise and good. Some of what the messages say sounds lovely. Careful reading, however, reveals the same old attempts at human programming that the fourth-dimension has become famous for. Examples in a moment.

What am I saying, that I think there’s no one out there in all the frequency dimensions unperceived by the human eye who is decent, free, intelligent and inclined to help humanity? Not at all. I’m just saying they don’t exist in the frequency nearest to ours which apparently is the one doing the talking.

A bit about frequency fields. The naked eye perceives only the vibrations of the electromagnetic spectrum called “visible light.” The other frequencies (radio, infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma) oscillate at a vibration too high or too low to be picked up visually, in the same way the human ear can’t hear sounds of too high a pitch, although a dog can hear them. It’s been suggested that most psychic communications take place in the wave length one notch down from visible light: infrared. Some call this frequency the abode of troubled spirits (ghosts and demons). I would add that it’s also apparently the abode of those who call themselves “the gods” and “ascended masters,” judging from the shit they sell us.

Take a look at the following messages communicated through Cory:

“Remember, we are an invisible “government” governing your planet. We are here to restore the harmonics of Heaven and our plan is infallible.”

“This global circuit is already in place and active. It is comprised of humans and nonhumans, visible and invisible beings who have volunteered to bring about this divine change. It is already done. You must not question your faith and trust in the divine order.”

“From our perspective, it is indeed a divine act to begin this endeavor and attempt to solidify all individuals’ values and and backgrounds in one set of rules.”

“You must not question”? “We are an invisible government governing your planet”? “Solidify all individuals’ values and background in one set of rules?” Does this sound like freedom to you?

Then there is this from the website’s page of recommended “Prayers”:

“We ask that our administration embraces people from all cultures and all religions as ONE human population intending to live in peace and harmony on this Earth.”

“We acknowledge that all experiences are in perfect Cosmic Order and in perfect alignment with the Creator-Source.”

“We ask and intend that we remain focused on peaceful and positive thoughts so we may only attract peaceful and positive circumstances and experiences.”

This surely sounds like the language of the New World Order. The added admonishment that we must always think positive and be peaceful is typical of Eastern and New Age religion. Sweet on the surface, but in fact we’re being told to limit our thoughts within a range that will offer no resistance to what’s happening around us.

This is further borne out in the statement: “We acknowledge that all experiences are in perfect Cosmic Order and in perfect alignment with the Creator-Source,” another popular dogma in Easternism and the New Age. If we can be persuaded that everything happens just as it’s supposed to, just as God intended, and that the world is perfect as it is, we won’t lift a hand, a voice or a thought to interfere with that perfect “Cosmic Order.”

To me, it’s an atrocity to suggest that a world as fraught with suffering as ours is “in perfect alignment with the Creator-Source,” yet Easternism and New Age tell us that all the time. Religions or messages that teach this reinforce our acceptance of what always should remain unacceptable. But that is the way it works with the global agenda. A new spirituality is needed to keep people locked into the old accepting programming. Hence the renovations being done on religion today.

We do have friends in the unseen, but they don’t send channeled and starship messages. They support our emancipation by sending thoughts and ideas that open our minds. They even assist our direct efforts to do things that might help humanity. I believe this, because I’ve experienced such support. But these beings act unobtrusively, like a good schoolteacher who watches over the children’s shoulders, quietly pointing here and there, while the students work the problems out for themselves. Our trans-dimensional friends aren’t out there pontificating New Age platitudes, announcing all is fine and that they’ll take care of the world’s problems if we see fit not to question them. They’re watching to see if we have the hutzbuh to set things right for ourselves.

Why am I sure of this? Because off-world beings who truly are mankind’s friends would never take over our fight. As a race, we’ve done little in our history but play follow-the-leader. That’s why we’re in this kind of shape. Always it’s someone outside ourselves we’ve expected to come up with the answers, to fix things. That attitude has invited global manipulation of gargantuan proportions. Manipulation I suggest we deserve if we’re still unwilling to stand on our own feet and take charge of our destiny.

Diseases don’t attack healthy people. A race of interdimensional beings doesn’t clandestinely take control of a planet of people who practice self-autonomy. If we are sick as a planet, it’s not because of greed and selfishness, as religious leaders and others would have believe. Accepting that guilt trip just further erodes self-trust, making us seek even more desperately for external guidance (a need our leaders happily accommodate).

We are sick as a planet because we don’t self-determine. Because we think we are limited. Because we believe we’re fundamentally unable to control what happens in our lives. In fact, nothing’s farther from the truth. We’re creating everything every minute with every thought by mentally accepting the world we have been given. This will change when we pull ourselves up by our suspenders and start ordaining what happens here. If enough of us do that, we’ll route the curmudgeons who laugh at their ability to make us accept our smallness and to send us down spiritual detours again and again.

The answers aren’t coming from off-world entities. They exist within us, in the creative workshop of our minds. Our minds aligned with intuition, the quiet knowledge whispering in our souls that still remembers the way things were originally intended, the kind of world we and the Infinite meant this one to be. When enough of us turn to that font of inspiration, and listen to the thoughts of those around us who also are looking within, we’ll continue to piece together the mysteries of this universe and how to establish our independence in it. Dialog and listening are critical. Not to gods and gurus, ascended masters or channeled messages, but to our own personal interior divinity.

Addendum:

I’d like to add a clarification and a practical tip here, for anyone interested. Just as it’s useful to listen to other people who have harmonious intentions for the planet and are in touch with their intuition or inner voice, there’s nothing wrong with asking for insight from the same quality of entities who don’t inhabit bodies on this plane. I find it can be helpful to ask for inspiration and insight, but it’s critical whom you ask. If you send up a prayer without an address, you give permission for anyone to step in and answer it, thereby influencing you however they please. Worse, if you ask for help from a particular guide, god, guru, ascended master or religious figure without being certain that entity does not have ulterior self-serving motives, you invite that questionable being to work its will in your life.

I believe it’s important to take special care about asking for help from “the Creator.” The physical creator of humanity appears to be different from the First Cause, First Consciousness, the creator of all life in all the dimensions. Those we call the gods say they are the creators of humanity. If that’s true, if they established physical life or human life on this planet, then when you pray to the Creator, those characters are the beings you connect with. Better to say something like “You in the Unseen who work to support the freedom and happiness of all beings” if you want to connect with beneficent spirits, or “First Consciousness, Source of All” if you want to connect with the Infinite within you.

It’s good to make clear that you no longer will accept the influence of questionable entities you used to pray or meditate to by stating this firmly so as to be rid of them. “I consciously disconnect myself from all energies, entities and programs that may be or are feeding upon me” are useful words for cutting off contact. It’s most effective if you say this out loud three or four times, until you feel some emotion behind it and subsequent release. It’s good to repeat these words (or something similar) anytime you may feel influenced by unwanted entities or energies.”

Of note from the various contributors:

“How many people don’t realize that they only pick the programming or reality that coincides with their desires?”

“It’s not about believing, it’s about knowing. So, .. check for yourself as much as possible.”

“… much of the new age stuff is fabricated….. to weaken you…. with the the help of old systems like the kabbalah, which likely can be seen as a “software” program to applicate the metaphysical in one (programmed) specific way.”

and

“Most of the new age stuff is based on many ancient systems like the kabbala which was created by the ego of man which also “created” gods and hiarchies as thought forms or archons so man becomes controlled by his own creation? just a thought.”

Not Paying for Services

The other day I came across an advert for an upcoming ‘guru’ event which had been posted on a blog. After scrolling past the initial “must see this” endorsements usually attributed to the PR company,  I noticed a pro and ante debate had arisen in the comments section along the lines of “lining the pockets” of such people versus “paying the “guru” for a service”.

“Paying for a service” is what set me thinking.  Its often used in defence in such situations.  It is assumed that the ‘guru’ is providing others with a service so should be paid for his or her time.

If my wall needed painting and I had a physical impairment or no access to ladders or any other necessary equipment which prevented me from doing it myself, then its likely I would have to hire someone who provided a painting service and pay them to do it on my behalf.   If I needed a burst water-pipe replacing or repairing I’d call a plumber and pay them to do the work for me.  Same goes for when my car needs a Service.  I’m not a mechanic so I pay someone who is and they do it for me, on my behalf.

If there were problems with the people I’d hired to do the work on my behalf then I would get them back to sort them out – usually its all part of the service I have paid for, part of the guarantee.  Service is  defined variously in the Oxford English Dictionary as:  the action of helping or doing work for someone, an act of assistance, or assistance or advice given to customers during and after the sale of goods, so all the above examples apply.

Here’s something to note in that definition:  assistance or advice given to customers during and after the sale of goods.  So if “gurus” are providing a Service as was claimed, that also implies they’re trying to sell something.

Why do some people think they need  ‘gurus’?

Is it the remnant of centuries of indoctrination by clergy and other religious leaders who assured us, often by killing and torturing us, that we needed a third-party for us to become spiritually aware?  That is, teaching us we don’t have the capability on our own so we have to be rounded up like sheep and provided with a shepherd to lead us?

Is it because they cannot do the work themselves or believe they can’t?  Maybe it is.   “Religion” comes from Middle English which in turn originates from Old French or Latin religio,  religare meaning obligation, bond or to bind. We have become obligated to bind ourselves to someone else to think for us, or on our behalf whether it was the church fabricated in antiquity or its relatively modern replacement, the fabricated New Age movement which provides a new cage for some and a new wage for others.  If that is so then we haven’t made much progress as a species. We just seem to be going round in circles.

Is it because they want a short-cut ~ a fast-track to getting all the answers where   everything is presented neatly packaged so there’s minimum effort involved on behalf of the seeker?  Could be!  I hold my hand up here and say that was me many years ago!  We were all young once and anxious to know things a.s.a.p. so we could get on with the rest of our lives!  What became obvious very quickly is that a ‘guru’ can’t do the work on our behalf and there is no short-cut to going within for answers.  That is the shortcut – going within ourself.  Who else can we trust?

If I want to get in touch with my Spirituality, no-one can do it on my behalf or for me.  No-one but me can provide me with that “service”.

If we just go back to the ‘ascension’ meme circa 2011 – 2012 and look at all the different scenarios which were presented to us by those ‘gurus’ claiming to have inside knowledge from every alien species they could think of or think up, access to ancient prophecies and calendars newly interpreted, etc, etc, from the whole Earth ascending overnight, only the righteous ascending or …..(pick a category)….., to Earth splitting into either two or three parts and then……………………………………………………………. NONE OF IT HAPPENED!  One even  told his partner and his followers he was confident that he would no longer be on Earth on 22 December, 2012.  He was and still is! Consequently some of these ‘gurus’ disappeared leaving a lot of disillusioned people behind, many of whom were turned off permanently from venturing off the mainstream again, which may have been the intention.  Some had a make-over and reinvented themselves admitting they’d made a mistake about the date (which was laudable, up to a point) and it was now all going to happen at the Spring Equinox of 2013 ………….or maybe Fall Equinox 2013 at the very, very latest.  And here we still are, mid 2015 and they are too.  Some took a bit longer to resurface,  probably in the hope that people have short memories.  Incredibly, some of those who bought the honeyed words the first time round are still trying to persuade others that this person or that person is the ‘real deal’ and woe betide anyone who challenges their beliefs.  Snake-oil, anyone?

So did all the ones who paid these ‘gurus’ for their services get their money back?   I don’t recall any of them offering a refund on books or ticket sales for getting it wrong. They sold faulty goods, assistance or advice.  If a workman provided a faulty service would you accept ‘Sorry, I got it wrong’ without providing you with a refund or making it right or would you pay him some more to see if he got it right next time or the time after that ad infinitum?  There’s a saying “A fool and his money are soon parted”.

Is it because these ‘gurus’ offer temporary hope or some ‘feel-good’ factor?  That suggests people haven’t realised that feeling good comes from inside oneself – from that inner knowing that everything is really OK and nothing external is needed.  For some that can take a lifetime to achieve. It takes work on the self by the self.  Its the realisation that there are no external saviours but there’s no need to be afraid of that because we are all capable of saving ourselves. That is what liberates us.  Being content with our own contents. Paying for something to make us feel good is only transient, temporary.  When it wears off what then?  Another search for the  next ‘fix’, the next ‘high’?  Some people get addicted to that and spend their entire lives searching.  An addict is usually the last person to recognise they are addicted.

What about those who cannot afford to pay for the tickets to go and see the ‘guru’ that everyone seems to be eulogising over?  They would perhaps feel disadvantaged  or excluded but there’s no need for them to  be.  The truth is out there for free!  Setting the intention to find it unlocks it.  Its available to everyone who wants it.  “Gurus” do not have exclusive rights over truth!

There’s a law in the UK that stipulates that Tarot Readers, Psychics, Mediums and so forth must be advertised as Entertainment not Services. They cannot provide evidence that what they tell you is true, neither can the “gurus’.

So pay them if you want to be entertained.  Don’t pay them for doing something on your behalf because ultimately they can’t do the work for you.  They cannot perform that service.
